I don’t know if I’m just a moron or unobservant or what, but I completely didn’t realize that Tomas “Czech Your Privilege” Satoransky is averaging career-highs in points and assists this season. My assumption was that since the Bulls are kinda playing like a big pile of booty and have been playing like booty for the whole season, Satoransky would also be playing like booty (ignoring that 27-point game he had). But career-high averages don’t lie.
Or do they? Sato has had many single-digit scoring games this season despite being the starter in every single one of them. He’s not and will probably never be a high-volume scorer, but even taking that into account, his shot attempts are probably being cannibalized by the other high-volume players on the roster. The per-36 stats bear this out: Sato is twelfth on the team in shots attempted per 36 minutes. Eleventh if you take out Max Strus who is a made-up player and doesn’t count. Tenth if you take out Denzel Valentine who has been injured for so long that I don’t even remember who he is. Still, only Arcidiacono and Hutchinson are less active in shooting the ball than Sato is.
I’m not saying that Sato needs to take control of the team that he’s the point guard for, but that’s actually exactly what I’m saying. He showed in Washington last season that he can be the orchestrator of an offense and not have it go totally down the toilet. And I need him to have good games more often so that Czech people have a reason to come to my channel. Either that or Jan Vesely needs to get his butt back to America so he can put up four points and five rebounds per game for the Pelicans or something.
