I don’t hang out around enough Jazz fans to get a read on their feelings about Jeff Green, but I have to assume that you can add “Jazz fans” to “The Big List of Fanbases that Jeff Green has Disappointed in His Career” (title in quotes because the list is actually for sale both as hardcover and softcover at all major booksellers). I assume that because Green has been pure 100% booty this season after actually having a pretty good year, all things considered, in Washington.
The numbers don’t lie. Even after a “strong” 6-of-11 performance resulting in nineteen points that were actually relatively entertaining by Jeff Green standards, Green is still shooting 37% from the field. Jazz fans certainly weren’t expecting a lot from this guy (you would be a fool to expect a lot from him given his history), but they must have expected more than this.
Perhaps coincidentally, or perhaps not, this year represents the smallest role that Green has ever played in his career. He’s never been below twenty MPG per game for a season until this season. Is Green one of those players who needs to get a lot of minutes before he gets into a rhythm? It’s probably not worth it for Quin Snyder to try to find that out. Luckily, Green has a tradeable contract for the first time in his life, so if the Jazz are tired of the Green experiment by the end of the year, they can move on from him and give his minutes to…[consults Jazz roster]…Juwan Morgan. Yeah!
