That’s two games in a row now where Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk has set a career high in points. First it was thirteen, now it’s fifteen. There’s a trend here, that, if followed to its logical conclusion, will result in Mykhailiuk setting a new career high of 100 points in the last game of the season while the Pistons finish at 37-45, one game out of the eighth seed.
Since Mykhailiuk only seems to be producing more as he gains the confidence of Dwane Casey, I’m still not going to put “Career High” in the title of the video. That will wait until he scores a truly astonishing amount of points like 19 or 20. This is, of course, assuming that Casey actually is paying attention to his players and will reward Mykhailiuk with more minutes. Casey is a previous COTY of winner, but, in his case, I think the award stands for “Crappyrotations of the Year”, so there’s no guarantee that Mykhailiuk’s role will continue to increase. Especially if the Pistons panic and trade for DeMar DeRozan.
I saw a comment somewhere (probably one one of my videos to be TBH) that alleged that, not only is Mykhailiuk an improving scorer, but he plays defense as well. DownToBuck does not care about defense, but Casey probably does, so Mykhailiuk turning into a more offense-minded Bruce Brown is the ticket into Casey’s heart. And if that commenter was lying about Mykhailiuk’s defensive acumen, well that’s fine too because, as I said, I don’t care about defense.
