There must be a reason Moritz “Der Gotterdammerung” Wagner isn’t playing more minutes. His percentages are sick, he’s averaging 20 and 10 per 36, the ‘Zards play way better with him on the court, he… oh. There it is. That’s a lot of fouls! Hard to play tons of minutes when you foul yourself out of the first half or just foul yourself out of the game entirely.
Fouls are a fixable problem, theoretically: just stop playing defense. On the ‘Zards, that shouldn’t be a problem, except I think he already isn’t playing defense. His main defensive ability is flopping it seems like. And let’s just say he’s not as savvy at it as Ersan Ilyasova. Maybe he could stop that and just not even try at all on that end of the floor? Remember, Wilt Chamberlain didn’t score 100 points by playing defense. Just something to keep in mind.
Wagner isn’t close to scoring 100 (unless flops count as 20 points each), but give him enough time and he’ll outdo that 30-burger he had a few weeks ago. I hope no one got unreasonable expectations from that game, because if you did, and you’ve been eagerly watching Washington basketball trying to catch him in action, man, you’ve seen a lot of crud.
