Attention James Borrego: stop playing Miles Bridges in garbage time. I’ve noticed this happening multiples times now. Just because other teams do it (mainly just the Hawks with Trae Young, and he paid the price by getting kneed in the mouth by Bridges with two minutes to go) doesn’t mean that it’s cool or acceptable to have your franchise cornerstone pad his stats in a decided game.
Yeah, I said franchise cornerstone. By default, every team needs to have at least three, that’s the rule, and I can’t think of three players more qualified to be a cornerstone than Bridges. You’ve got Devonte’ Graham, there’s one, but then you would need two more. Terry Rozier? LOL. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist? He just scored 7, and he was the consolation prize when they missed out on Anthony Davis, who just scored 50. Cody Zeller? See where this is going? Nowhere. Kinda like the Hornets.
In any case, Bridges is one of their better players, and when it comes to garbage time, you’ve really got to be getting your not-so-good players some development minutes. I know they hate Willy Hernangomez, but 3 minutes is not enough. There wasn’t a huge amount of total garbage time in this one, granted. But as soon as it gets bad enough, Bridges has to be done.
