Anfernee Simons 16 Points Full Highlights (12/10/2019)

Something bad has happened to Rodney Hood. Something very bad. Rodney Hood won’t be coming back for a long time, maybe ever.

But the universe always operates at a perfect balance. When something very bad happens, necessarily there will be something very good that happens somewhere else. And, in this case, that very good thing was sitting on the Blazers’ bench waiting for the very bad thing to happen to his teammate. What strange games the cosmos likes to play with us!

I’m talking, of course, about Anfernee Simons and how he is now the Blazers’ main weapon off the bench. With Hood nursing an Achilles tendon that looks more like a very thick and very broken rubber band, Simons will get even more of the backup guard minutes than he was before. He has shown he can be productive in the minutes he was getting before, but now that productivity will be counted on more than ever.

The cosmos has also ordained that Gary Trent Jr. will start getting more minutes. He didn’t play so well this game (0-of-5 shooting), and if he continues to not hit his shots, then Simons might get another, secondary bump to his minutes. So that’s another bad thing that gets cosmically balanced out with a good thing. All you nihilists that think the universe is a swirling, unforgiving chaos-storm of random chance, you’d be a lot happier if you subscribed to my earnestly-held belief that there is inherent fairness to be found in existence.
