It still blows my mind that Alec Burks played seven full seasons (plus one partial season) for the Jazz. I guess technically they weren’t full seasons, because he was injured for big chunks of some of them, but he was there for 8 training camps. I figure that John Stockton and Karl Malone have statues in front of whatever the Jazz arena is called (too lazy to look it up). When does Burks get his? Derrick Favors too. Burks and Favors are like the modern day Stockton and Malone; they even have the same amount of rings. The stats might not be in their favor (get it? FAVOR! lmao), so I’ll allow the statues to be a little smaller and shoved into some corner of the arena that no one visits because there are no concessions to be found there.
Burks has already had a few revenge games against the Jazz, 17 points last year, 20 points earlier this season, but this is the best so far. He’s mad. He knows that he should’ve been a Jazzman for life. He knows that the fans think he should’ve been a Jazzman for life. The front office betrayed him, shipping him off for Kyle Korver (who bolted first chance he got and is now busy winning a championship in Milwaukee), and he’ll never let that betrayal fade away. He will remember it by dropping 20-burgers against the Jazz every opportunity he gets.
It would’ve been pretty sweet for the underhanded Warriors to knock off the Jazz, but in the end, and despite Burks’ revengy 24 points, the Jazz pulled it out. And that’s fine by Burks. He doesn’t need the actual win to show the clowns running the show in Utah that they made a huge mistake.
