Bruce Brown 16 Points/6 Assists Full Highlights (12/14/2019)

DownToBuck has always been known to be at the bleeding edge of the NBA highlight video space. His innovations in the format are widely copied by lesser highlight hawkers. But it is a little-known fact that DownToBuck is also a leading innovator in the formulation of new advanced metrics.

My latest statistical invention? The MSS Index. What does MSS stand for, you ask as your troublingly feeble brain struggles to process even the barest minimum of information that your sensory system overloads it with? It’s simple: Most Stat-Stuffed. The Most Stat-Stuffed Index is a measurement how “stuffed” (that is, abundant with statistics) a player’s statline is. The more box-score stats a player accumulates, the higher their MSS Index is.

You might think that the addition of the word “most” into the name of my new stat is redundant. After all, looking at the index after its calculation will inform you as to which players were most stat-stuffed and which players were least stat-stuffed. However, I couldn’t just call it the SS Index because SS has a different meaning which I don’t want to be associated with. Hence, it’s the MSS.

Bruce Brown had a very high MSS Index in this game. With his sixteen points, ten rebounds, six assists, four steals, and a block, the stat sheet could barely hold all the stats he was stuffing into it. Suffice to say, not many players had a higher MSS Index than him. I’m not going to divulge the secret formulas that are used to calculate the MSS Index, but just know that it is very, very different from John Hollinger’s “Game Score” metric. Very different. They’re not similar stats at all. Mine has way more math and is way better.
