I’m trying to formulate an argument for why Norman Powell is the best player on the Raptors, and it just isn’t working. I’m looking at so much stuff to make this work, don’t think I’m half-butting it. I’m looking at advanced stats. I’m looking at regular stats. I’m looking at, really, all the stats. Social media is something I am looking at. Twitters. Facebooks. Instagrams. No stone had gone unturned in my quest to anoint Powell the best player on the Raptors, but it is all in vain. Futility, my name is thee.
I’m forced to come to the unhappy conclusion that perhaps… Powell isn’t the best player on the Raptors. I don’t want to have to come to this conclusion, but I really have no choice. If someone out there has some piece of evidence, however small, that Powell is the best player on the Raptors, I would love to hear it, because I haven’t found even one.
How did I get such a warped view of how good Powell is? This is very disturbing to me. It couldn’t have anything to do with how much he kicks the Bucks’ butt EVERY time he plays them, can it? No. Absolute not. His play against the Bucks has not distorted my perception of him at all. I am better than that.
