Davis Bertans 26 Points/7 Threes Full Highlights (12/18/2019)

Fans all around the league have woken up to how good Davis Bertans is playing right now. Even when he was in San Antonio, he was more of a curiosity than anything, because of inconsistent playing time and Popovich’s strategy of shooting midrangers instead of threes. But now he’s establishing himself as one of the very best three-point shooters in the entire league. And all those fans around the league? If they’re a fan of a playoff team, they’re looking at the Wizards’ record and thinking “how can we get this guy onto my team?”.

There isn’t a playoff team around who wouldn’t at least have a passing interest in a three-baller like Bertans. His combination of high-volume and efficient three-point shooting is unmatched, why wouldn’t they want him? They probably don’t want him enough to sign his brother Dairis and use him as leverage to get him to come to their team, but if the cost was right, no team would say no.

The Wizards’, for what it’s worth, have said that they’re keeping him and consider him part of the core with Bradley Beal and John Wall. I don’t know how good of a core that is, if it even makes the playoffs (Wall is never coming back as far as I can tell, and Bertans, for as great as he is at shooting from 500 feet away, isn’t much of a defender), but it is what it is. And it means that your favorite team is not going to be getting any time soon.

You’ll have to settle for watching these highlights with the colors on your monitor modified to make it look like he’s wearing a jersey of your team. His skin won’t look right, but if you squint hard enough, you can probably fool your brain for the duration of a highlight video.
