There was some minor concern, when he was drafted, that Bismack Biyombo wasn’t the age he said he was. He was 18 at the time of the draft, but there were rumors that he could be older. As old as 26, apparently. There’s no way he would be able to make himself 8 years younger than he actually was, but I could totally see him being, like, 20 at the time of the draft. 2 years is nothing.
At this point in his career, it doesn’t matter. According to the NBA, he’s 27 now, and he’s at the point in his career where his athletic gifts will soon start to decline a bit. I haven’t noticed any declination (yeah, I’m making up a new definition for “declination”, deal with it, English is a fluid language and I can do whatever I want with it) at all, however. In fact, as I’ve noted before, he’s become a WAY better scorer this year than he has been in the past.
I still have no explanation for this phenomenon, other than that perhaps Devonte’ Graham is such a good point guard that Biyombo is getting a lot more easily convertible looks than he has in the past. As if we needed more reasons for why Kemba Walker is worse than Graham.
There is a little bit of evidence for Biyombo being older than he claims; look at that hairline! If those sides go up any more he’s going to have an isolated hair island on the top of his forehead. But this is not hard evidence, because the hair reaper comes for all men and can come at any age.
