Devonte’ Graham is great from three. One of the best in the whole league, he’s basically the black Stephen Curry playing where Curry should really be playing if he had any respect for his heritage. He’s got the volume. He’s got the percentages. When it comes to launching from deep, hardly anyone does it better.
It’s a good thing that’s the case, because he SUCKS (note the capital letters indicating emphasis) at two-pointers. He shoots way fewer of them than threes, probably because he realize that when he steps inside the arc, his chances of a made bucket quickly get way worse. He’s shooting around 36 percent from there, the worst mark in the league. All of a sudden his All-Star candidacy (which doesn’t really exist except in my head and the heads of the few other Grahamophiles out there) is looking way less likely.
For reference, the other play kind of close to him in two-point futility is Mike Conley, who is notable this year for sucking all-around. At least Graham sucks only in this one particular area, even if it is a rather big area that covers nearly a third of the court (not nearly as big as three-point range, though, which covers the whole rest of it).
