The Utah Jazz recently (very recently, only a few hours ago) traded for Jordan Clarkson to bolster their bench scoring. I’m finding that extremely funny, because from what I can recall, they already had a primo 6th-man-type scorer on their roster for several years, almost a decade actually. And they marginalized him and marginalized him until they traded him for an old-ass Kyle Korver.
It would’ve been kind of nice to see Alec Burks return to the Jazz, which would restore things halfway to where they should be. The other half would be to get Derrick Favors back there also. But at the same time, why would we want Burks to return to the team that had moved on from him but refused to acknowledge until trading him a few years later? He’s in a better place now. Well, the team isn’t better, but they will be better assuming all those superstars they used to have come back intact.
And it actually turns out that Burks is only on a one-year deal so it’s very possible that his stint with the Warriors will coincide perfectly with the year that they were not a dynasty, casting further doubt on his quality as a player. So, yeah, I guess I do want Burks back in Utah. He’s frickin’ better than Clarkson right now (okay, maybe not, I don’t really know how good Clarkson is now that I no longer make vids for him) and getting paid way less. Is it possible to re-trade Clarkson for Burks? It seems like it should be.
