“How much do you love when guys get an opportunity, and they take advantage of it. Don’t you just love it, when that happens?”
Yes, I do love it when a G-League player drags his frail bodily husk from the eternally benighted abysm of obscurity to show his stuff in the big leagues. Thanks for asking, Timberwolves commentator Jim Petersen.
Raise your hand if you had heard of this guy, this “Jordan McLaughlin”, prior to seeing this video and are NOT a Timberwolves fan. And then put your frickin’ hand down, YOU LIAR. Do not lie to me. You had not heard of him. He wasn’t even drafted. He had appeared in only four games prior to this, and was active for only one other. Perhaps you are a fan of one of the teams he made one of his rare appearances in, but I highly doubt that you realized who you were seeing. You probably thought it was Adreian Payne or something.
McLaughlin made his mark, however small, on the league tonight. Sure, it comes in yet another T-Wolves loss in a seemingly endless string of them, but he was legitimately their best player in this game. His crossover on “elite defender” Draymond Green followed by a dunk on Alec Burks to cap his night got me more hyped than I have been in at least a few days. And that’s saying a lot, because I see a lot of hype-worthy stuff, and I don’t just get hyped for no reason. We’re going to have to take some of those DPOY awards from Green after that one.
