Amount of 22-point, 15-rebound games David “Softie” Lee had for the Warriors: 13
At first glance, it might seem premature for me to give Damion Lee such a nickname as “Best Lee in Warriors History”, considering the gap between those two numbers. But you have to remember something: David Lee was a softie who barely impacted winning. Damion Lee is basically the epitome of a winner, he has to be, otherwise there’s no way Stephen Curry would’ve let him marry his sister. The Curry’s don’t let losers into their family, which is why you don’t see David hanging around any family gatherings.
And besides, this 1 22/15 game is way more important than all of David’s 22/15 games put together because this one came in a win on Christmas, in a game that the whole world thought the Warriors would get embarrassed in. Damion is going to live on FOREVER in Warriors lore after this performance. It might be relegated to an interesting sidenote in between two sections of their dynasty, but it’ll be an immortal sidenote.
I can imagine grandparents reminiscing to the grandchildren assembled around their feet about the time when they were children that they saw Damion Lee dominate James Harden and Russell Westbrook on national TV on Christmas day. The grandchildren will laugh and not believe that such a thing could ever happen, but the elder will be able to pull up this video and the associated boxscore as all the proof they could ever need. Assuming YouTube is still around in 60 years, which is a bold assumption.
