Amount of two-point field goals the Brooklyn Nets made tonight: 8.
Amount of two-point field goals Marcus Morris made tonight: 7.
I was really hoping that Morris would have outtwopointed the Nets as a team just by himself (that honor goes to Julius Randle instead) but alas, he was one midrange jumper short. I don’t know what the Nets’ two-pointers looked like, but at least for Morris, he was doing NOTHING but shooting from the midrange. He did have a three to get things started, but even his free-throws were a type of midrange jumper, in a way.
It was honestly Carmelo-esque. With the headband, the shooting motion (very compact), the headband, the jersey, and the headband, it was like Carmelo got reincarnated to play for the Knicks again even as he had a game with the Trailblazers starting shortly after this one ended.
This performance by Morris was also Carmelo-esque in the sense that the Knicks actually got a win out of it. Carmelo may not be the world’s greatest winner, but at least while he was with the Knicks, they were winning SOME games, unlike now, where every win feels like a bit of a miracle. Less of a miracle than it did back when they had Fizdale (this new coach must be doing something right), but still, I’m definitely sensing some intervention by one deity or another here.
