Robin Lopez 17 Points Full Highlights (12/28/2019)

Robin Lopez is normally thought of as the more “traditional” center out of the two Lopez twins thanks to his preference for the post-up game and his inability to shoot from long range (until this season anyway). Perhaps due to that reputation, I always thought of Fropez as being a decent rebounder, but I just looked at the stats and he is almost as futile as his brother when it comes to actually grabbing rebounds.

The last three seasons, Fropez has been averaging about six rebounds per 36 minutes. His defensive rebound percentage has been hovering right around 10% for those same three seasons. For reference, high-volume rebounders like Andre Drummond and Hassan Whiteside have defensive rebound percentages in the 35% range. I chose to focus on defensive rebound percentage because it’s less dependent on scheme; some teams don’t care about going for offensive rebounds. I wanted to note that because The Athletic could totally hire me based on my extremely advanced analysis of the stats.

Here’s some more advanced tidbits for The Athletic: I bet Robin Lopez is pretty good at boxing out. That’s what the Brook Lopez apologists are always saying so it might hold true for Robin as well. I could pretend that I watch the games closely enough to notice who’s boxing out who, but I don’t pay that much attention. Please hire me to write for your online publication.
