Dillon Brooks has come a long way since his NBA debut. In that game, he scored 19 points. Now, a couple years later, he has scored 20. Just amazing progression from a guy who was drafted in the second round, who not many people to succeed at the next level. To go from not scoring 20 points, to scoring 20 points, in the span of just a few years is really inspiring. The entire nation of Canada should be looking to this man as a beacon of hope for the future. Actually, not just Canada. The entire world.
The last three shots of this video are wild, spoiler alert. If, for some reason, you were unconvinced of Brooks’ ability to score in funky isolation situations, that final trifecta of buckets should convince you. Ball movement and stuff is all well and good until it isn’t, and when it gets to that point, you need a guy who can just take some garbagey shot and maybe it will go in. Perhaps Brooks could’ve tried to let a bit more ball movement happen before taking a few of those, but when you’re feeling it, some shots just have to be taken.
I think Grizzlies fans are coming around to the idea that while Brooks is not an efficient player or a very good scorer, there is value in his shot creation ability in tough circumstances. The rest of the general NBA public? I don’t think they’re even aware of the Kobe-esque stuff that is going on with him every night. And that’s fine. Let them be unaware. They will become aware when the Grizzlies are sweeping the Nets in the 2027 Finals.
