Shabazz Napier scoring 20 or more in three straight games after being booty for the whole season prior is really fun and exciting, but you know what would be even more fun and exciting? A lot of things, but the one I’m thinking of is if it was Shabazz Muhammad was scoring 20 or more in three straight games.
If he hadn’t turned down that 40 million, 4 year contract, he’d still be on the Timberwolves playing out the final season of that deal. Him rejecting that offer has to be one of the dumbest things any Minnesota player has ever done with regards to a contract, right up there with Latrell Sprewell and his hungry children. Now he’s out of the league, him and his lefty push shots, and it’s sad. He was pretty good on the Bucks, no lie. Not 10 million dollars good, but pretty good. Not even lying right now.
We have to be content with the other Shabazz, the Napier kind of Shabazz, for now. That’s fine, because what he’s doing right now is very impressive. Three 20-burgers in a row, and his team is 2-1 in that stretch, with the loss being a 2-point defeat at the hands of the league’s best team at full strength (whereas the Wolves are pretty much the opposite of being at full strength). Karl-Anthony Towns might be miffed that he doesn’t have more help in Minnesota, but it’s actually Napier who should be miffed, since he’s the one doing all the carrying right now.
