It’s not Osman’s fault that the Cavaliers are so dysfunctional. From my point of view, he seems like a consummate professional. It may be because his English isn’t perfect, but I don’t think I’ve heard anything the slightest bit disparaging come out of his mouth. If I was on that team, and someone made the mistake of interviewing me, I wouldn’t hold back. I’d be calling everyone out, from the general manager to the person who serves up the nachos. I wouldn’t make a good NBA player, for reasons including that but also including many other things.
Osman’s three-point percentage has seen a bit of a rise this season, which is a surprise to me. I thought, in the absence of Kyle Korver giving him shooting advice that only one of the league’s all-time best shooters can give, that he would regress a bit in that area. Good on Korver for instilling some good habits and good on Osman for retaining those habits, I guess. But if we really want to see more improvement in Osman’s game, we need to reunite him with Korver.
Which is why I propose this trade: the Bucks over one (1) Thon Maker and one (1) top-55 protected 2029 second-round pick in exchange for Osman. That way Osman can be back on a team with Korver on it, and the Cavaliers get a really valuable pick and an updated version of John Henson that is just way, way worse. If Cavaliers fans want to dispute the merits of this trade based on the fact that Maker is no longer on the Bucks, that’s their perogative, but I’m not going to let reality get in the way of my fantasy.
