Darius Garland 20 Points/7 Assists Full Highlights (1/4/2020)

The Cavaliers’ aptly-named “Young Inefficient Tunnel-Vision Midget Chuck Bros” tandem actually had a pretty good game tonight! Collin Sexton put up 30 (along with a whopping 2 assists, which is a large amount considering that when he has the ball he is literally incapable of seeing anything other than the rim), and Garland had 20 with 7 assists. And they didn’t even need that many shots to do it! Well, they did, but not as many as you’d normally think they’d need to score 50 points.

This is a good sign for the future of the Cavaliers. At a time when there are basically only bad signs (Matthew Dellavedova’s new form has resulted in nothing but bricks, Kevin Love is blatantly giving up on the court, Dean Wade isn’t even Dwyane Wade like front office thought, etc…), a sign of hope from the franchise’s young “cornerstones” is welcome indeed.

Garland’s assists may not have been very exciting, except for the out-of-bounds lob to Tristan Thompson, but the fact that they exist at all means that we might have to remove the “Tunnel-Vision” part of the tandem’s nickname, or somehow only apply it to Sexton. Garland can pass. The 13 assists he racked up during his time at Vanderbilt prove that.
