Darn it! I thought for sure that Dillon Brooks would be leading the ‘Zlies in total field goals attempted, but when I went to check, he’s in second place. He’s attempted 460, while Jaren Jackson Jr. (total chucker by the way) has taken 470. There goes my whole narrative. I had a whole narrative of Brooks, despite being just a guy, being the leading shooter for a WHOLE NBA team and how cool it was that a Canadian not named Wiggins was getting to be the focal point of an offense. Now that narrative lies in shambles. Now Brooks is just another iffy chucker on a bad team.
Yeah, I’m going to call the ‘Zlies a “bad team” even though they just went into Los Angeles and dominated a “superteam” (the only thing “super” about them is how super sweaty Steve Ballmer is LMAO [Loving My Amusing Orations]) with fury. And I’m going to call Brooks a “chucker” even though he shot 19 times in 28 minutes and barely did anything else.
This new big four in Memphis of Brooks, Jae Crowder, Jaren Jackson Jr, and Ja Morant might not have been considered a big four before tonight, but now that this game has happened, there’s no denying it. A lot of so-called “good” teams are content with a “big three” or even a “big two”, concepts which are, frankly, laughable and outmoded now that we’ve seen what a quartet of talented players can do to a team that only had 1 superstar. The only thing left to do is complete the process and go for a “big five”, presumably by unshackling Jonas Valanciunas and letting him play to his fullest potential.
