I wouldn’t call this three-point shooting display “blistering” or even “scorching” (and I have those adjectives in the correct order, since getting blistered is more painful than getting scorched). However, I would call it “hot”. Georges Niang was hot from three. I don’t think that’s an unfair description of the temperature of his shooting, given that he went 5-of-8 from three in sixteen minutes.
With this impressive outburst of scoring (again, it’s not an “explosion” of scoring, but is an “outburst”, which is a lesser noun), Jazz fans might hate Niang slightly less. They are still likely to find him intolerable whenever he steps on the court, and they are likely to question Coach Snyder’s sanity when it becomes apparent for the twentieth straight game that Niang is still a cemented part of the rotation, but the intensity of those feelings might be slightly reduced. Maybe. Or they’ll just brush this off as a one-time occurrence and their hate for Niang will remain constant.
I can’t say I blame them. If Niang really is as bad as his -19 on/off split indicates, then I would have a hard time reining in my dislike for him, too.
