OFFICIAL DTB DISCLAIMER: Jordan McRae was 8-of-24 (!!!!) from the field in this game. Not only did he attempt more shots than he scored points, but that ratio was even more out-of-whack than it usually is in these situations. That’s now two straight games where he’s been chucking up bricks with no conscience (he was 3-of-15 in the ‘Zards previous game), but both of those games were ‘Zards wins, so maybe his chucking opens up the offense in a way that it wouldn’t be opened up if he weren’t chucking.
I was actually getting Jordan Crawford vibes hard while making this video. The lesser Crawford (but how much lesser really?) spent the last 26 games of the 2010-11 season the ‘Zards, and he averaged exactly 16.3 PPG per game on 16.3 FGA per game. McRae, on the whole, has been much more efficient than that, but a couple more games of this and Scott Brooks might have to rein him in. I don’t think anybody ever reined Crawford in.
Only two players this season have attempted 24 or more field goals and scored fewer than nineteen points. Giannis was 8-of-27 for 18 points on Christmas Day, and Pascal Siakam was 6-of-24 for 15 points in mid-November. Bradley Beal, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kawhi Leonard, and Russell Westbrook have also scored nineteen using those criteria. So this game from McRae will probably, by season’s end, be one of the season’s top ten inefficient chuckfests. Gotta get your name in the record books somehow.
