Everyone’s thinking it, so let’s just put it out there: Jaren Jackson Jr. should be in the three-point shootout.
Remember, the first and arguably only priority of the All-Star weekend three point contest is entertainment. It’s not meant to determine who the best shooter is. It’s not meant to showcase the best shooters by percentage. It’s not meant to be a reward for a good team record. It’s meant to give fans something exciting to cheer for. That’s it.
Putting Jackson in the contest automatically makes it like 50 percent more fun, solely because of his shooting form. Who doesn’t want to see him shoot 25 threes with his crazy form? It would be the raddest thing ever. I am still mad about all those Shawn Marion three-point shootout snubs, by the way.
And it’s not like it’d even be that much of a stretch to give him an invite. He’s shooting right around 40 percent (basically the cutoff for turning from a good shooter to a great shooter) on a nice number of attempts. As of right now, he’s legit, and no one would complain to see him rep the Grizzlies on All-Star weekend.
