When I saw that Patrick McCaw got 11 assists, I had to drop everything and get to work on this. I mean, come on. Patrick McCaw. 11 assists. Far surpassing his previous career high, which was 2, set back when he was with the Warriors. He’s had a few other games with 1.
Fine, I’m lying, I’m lying to you all right now, any true fan of NBA role-players will remember that he recently had an 18-8-7 game, those 8 assists being a career high. But isn’t it more fun to pretend that he really sucks at passing so that this performance seems even more insane? A jump from 2 to 11 would be the gnarliest thing to happen in the NBA season.
This is still fairly high on the gnarly scale (0 being “not gnarly at all” and 10 being “the gnarliest gnarl that ever gnarled), ranking at 7. A solid 7. McCaw has been getting some assists lately, but 11 assists isn’t the amount you get when you just sometimes are passing the ball. 11 is the amount you get when you’re RUNNING the offense with SKILL and POISE. I’m looking at the Warriors right now, looking at what McCaw just did, looking back at the Warriors, and I’m betting that they’re full of regret right now.
I would say this is way cooler than the fact that he won three championships in a row. That factoid is dumb and doesn’t say anything about him as a player. 13 points and 11 assists, now THAT says something.
