Thaddeus Young 18 Points Full Highlights (1/8/2020)

There was a fair amount of optimism for the Bulls heading into the season. It’s not like the fanbase was expecting a championship or anything, but the playoffs seemed like a reasonable goal. One of the reasons for that optimism: the acquisition of Thaddeus Young, glue-guy extraordinaire who has been a solid contributor on (mostly) good teams for his decade-long career.

The Bull suck again, though. The optimism may have been warranted before the season started, but now it looks laughable. And Young shoulders a lot of the blame. He’s supposed to be the rock, the steady veteran player that all these young guys can coalesce around, but he just hasn’t been good.

And then he goes and complains about minutes? The classic strategy of playing badly and then wondering why you aren’t playing more. It actually sort of worked out for him, because he did have some games where he got a few more minutes, but did he do much with them? Not really.

I was starting to reget not making a vid for his 17-point debut, but you know, I really though (like Bulls fans) that he’d actually be good this year. I was waiting for him to do something better, and it took a while, but here we are. 18 points, a season-high (he used to score 20-plus all the time what happened). He had to hit a bunch of unexpected threes, including one that he banked in, to get there, but with Young, you have to take what offense you can get. Man, he’s looking old all of a sudden.
