Between Aaron Holiday, T.J. McConnell, Edmond Sumner (has had a few decent games), Naz Mitrou-Long (had one decent game) and Victor Oladipo coming back soon, it doesn’t seem like the Pacers even need Malcolm Brogdon at all. They can win games with him, sure, but they can also easily win games without him. So they can just give him back to the Bucks, right? Right.
Pacers fans don’t love and cherish Brogdon like Bucks fans did (and still do, just because he’s in Indiana doesn’t mean he won’t always be our CyBrog). They like him, maybe really like him, but he’s just a hired gun. Give it a few years, I guess some chemistry could develop between fanbase and player, but for the best interests of all involved, the Pacers need to move on. Now. By trading Brogdon back to the Bucks for Thon Maker.
You know who else wins in this trade? Aaron Holiday. He’s basically just as good as Brogdon, but doesn’t get to show it all the time unless Brogdon is injured (which has been quite often, but that doesn’t project to continue forever). He can run the pick-and-roll, which is the only thing a point guard needs to be able to do in Indiana to be successful. He can score. What else does he even need to do? Yeah, Pacers, if you could just go ahead and get Brogdon back in Milwaukee that would be great. Thanks.
