REVENGE GAME!!!
This REVENGE GAME had extra-large amounts of REVENGE because the trade that the Bulls made to send McDermott to the Thunder didn’t make sense then and it really doesn’t make sense now. In fact, their initial trade to acquire McDermott in the first place doesn’t make sense either. The Bulls completely mishandled McDermott from beginning to end and this is what they get: a huge serving of REVENGE from the man himself, Dougie McBuckets.
I mean, what were they thinking packaging up McDermott, Taj Gibson (fan favorite for a long time) and a second-round pick for the poopoo platter of Joffrey Lauvergne, Anthony Morrow, and Cameron Payne? That trade was a little less than three years ago now, and all those dudes are out of the league. Meanwhile, McDermott is having the best season of his career in Indiana, Taj Gibson is doing Taj Gibson things in New York, and that second round pick? None other than Mitchell Robinson AKA the next DeAndre Jordan. Boy, it sure was worth giving up all that for a soft French bigman, a washed three-point specialist, and a point guard who didn’t belong in the league.
And I’m not even going to touch the draft-night trade that netted the Bulls McDermott in the first place. Gary Harris and Jusuf Nurkic? Ouch. The REVENGE is thick and palpable in this video for sure.
