This performance from Terry Rozier is more in line with what I expected he would be doing when the season started.
Leading his team in shots attempted? Check.
Leading his team in points? Check.
Taking tough midrange jimbos because none of his teammates can do anything? Check.
Pulling up from three just because? Check.
Sitting out the fourth because it’s a blowout loss? Check.
The only way this game doesn’t meet my pre-season expectations for Rozier is that he was actually efficient in this one, going 9-of-14 from the field. I was expecting endless 9-of-25 performances from him, and, sure, he’s had some of that, but his efficiency overall has been a huge surprise for me. While I was justified in my distaste for him while he was on the Celtics, that distaste is no longer quite as justified. I will, at some point, have to start giving him credit for his improvement, even if the way he plays is not deemed “winning basketball” by those who care about “winning basketball”.
If everybody played “winning basketball”, there would be no scrubs. That’s my take on it.
