It may sound unbelievable now, but Collin Sexton did manage to get a 10-assist game in right before the end of his rookie year before turning into a full-on tunnel-vision chucker this season. I was getting all ready to prop up Darius Garland with sentences like “I bet Sexton never got 10 assists in a game because he’s a full-on tunnel-vision chucker” and “At least one of the chuck bros realizes that there are other players on the court besides themselves” and “I want Garland to win ROTY of the Year”.
I guess I could still use those last two sentences to prop him up. But the first one, man, that was my main reason for saying that Garland is totally better than Sexton (which totally isn’t true, but whatever, call me fake news if you want) and I can’t even use it. How the heck did Sexton get 10 assists in a single game anyway? Did I make a vid for that? Nowadays it would take him a half-dozen games to get that many assists.
But there is one fact that is undeniable: Garland got 10 assists in this game, against a good defensive team, and at least some of them (mostly to John Henson) were really quite nice. He is developing right before our eyes, people.
