Another game, another career-high for Donte DiVincenzo. He had 18 just a week ago, now surpassed by the 19 he had tonight. I will hold off on including “Career High” in the title until he scores at least 20. It’s gotta happen soon, right? Damn the Bucks and their roster full of competent players which means he never has to do too much or shoot too many shots.
Fans of other teams don’t even understand how good he is. I diss players all the time in these descriptions and fans of those teams are always like “you just don’t understand Dee Tee Bee, you have to watch all the games to really know” and I always doubt them, but maybe they’re right. Although in the case of DiVincenzo, there are several advanced stats that portray him as a very good player, so even a non-Bucks fan might theoretically be able to get a vague understanding of his importance to the team.
“Importance” is putting it a little strongly, maybe, because the Bucks would be fine if he disappeared back to Villanova to win more NCAA championships. But at the same time, he’s just SO DAMN GOOD. Every time I watch him I say “I love Donte” out loud at least three separate times. Usually more. I don’t say that for Pat Connaughton. I don’t say that for Sterling Brown. Only Donte. And Giannis.
