Will Barton has gotta be the dude in the league who has the worst production/care ratio in the league. What I mean by that is he’s got very good statistical production accompanied by very few people caring or paying attention. Him and Jeff Teague are league-leaders in putting up monster stats while the NBA fandom at large yawns and scratches their butts and wonder when LeBron will make another funny Instagram post.
The problem with players like Barton is that I will spend a considerable amount of my own time making highlight videos for their stat-stuffed performances, but the videos reach a very small audience of only their most dedicated fans. Unlike somebody like Michael Porter Jr., who could hit a free throw and grab a rebound but still get 10,000 views on the resulting highlight video, nobody in their right mind would ever seek out Will Barton highlight videos. In fact, you shouldn’t even be reading this description right now, as that means you were foolish enough to click on this video even though you know full well that you’re not actually going to watch it.
I feel like every time I make a Barton vid, I’m ragging on him for not having enough fans to make it worth my time. And that’s not fair. A player like him, a player of his caliber, should have more fans, but it’s not really his fault that he doesn’t. And maybe the only way he gets those fans is by people browsing the prestigious DownToBuck NBA highlights channel on the YouTubes and seeing that he’s regularly dropping thirty-point games like it’s no problem at all. Or he could get traded to the Raptors. Then all of Canada would never shut up about him but at least they would all watch my vids.
