The Raptors commentators claimed that Fred VanVleet’s 7 three-pointers this game were a career-high. Now, let’s just get this out of the way before anyone gets the wrong idea here: they’re totally wrong. Because I DISTINCTLY remember a playoff game against the Bucks where he hit 10 threes in a Raptors victory. Don’t believe me? I can even describe each one in pristine detail:
1st three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
2nd three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
3rd three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
4th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
5th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
6th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
7th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
8th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
9th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
10th three: VanVleet hits a three even though he sucks and is garbage
How would I be able to recall so many details of the 10 threes he hit if they didn’t actually happen? There’s no way, my imagination is not so vivid as to be able conjure up 10 nonexistent threes out of thin air.
So there you have it. VanVleet’s 7 threes tonight were a lot of threes, and it was an impressive performance overall, but it was NOT a career-high in threes.
