Marcus Morris 20 Points Full Highlights (1/18/2020)

OFFICIAL NEW DTB HIGHLIGHTS GUIDELINE: If a player scores just one more point than their season average, that means I’m not going to make a highlight video for them, no matter what.

That’s what I’m looking at here with this Marcus Morris video. He’s averaging 19 PPG per game this season, and he just scored twenty. My mental database of player goodness is slow to update, so I was thinking twenty points is definitely highlight-worthy, but now I’m looking at this stats and I’m like…no. No way. I should not have done this. My time was wasted on a video that’s not even significantly more impressive than an average game for this dude. Even if Morris himself comes to this video and leaves a comment which says “thank u for making this video dee tee bee, i knew u would come thru for me,” it won’t have been worth it. Unless that comment is accompanied by a personal check made out for the amount of $25,000.

It doesn’t matter that Morris is having the best scoring season of his career by far, and that, if this game had happened in, say, the 2013-14 season, it would be his third best game of the season. Those facts do not matter at all. The only facts that matter are that Morris is almost a twenty PPG scorer at this point, so twenty points from him is not notable. At all.

I’m really going to have compile all my guidelines and rules for myself into a handy cheat-sheet so I don’t get caught out like this again. I’ll tape it to the wall behind my monitors so that I can figure out easily and quickly that Marcus Morris has to score AT LEAST 22 points before he gets a highlight video. No exceptions.
