With the Knicks being so bad and all (yeah I know they’ve been a bit better recently that doesn’t mean they’re not still bad), you would think that Damyean Dotson would be getting a bit more run. In case the Knicks coaching staff can’t figure it out for themselves, which wouldn’t surprise me at all, here’s a comprehensive list of what Dotson does to help his team win games:
-Shoot ball good
It’s a short list, but it’s exactly long enough for the Knicks’ purposes. They need shooting. Everyone knows they need shooting. They have a bunch of players who can “shoot”, but they have hardly any shooters. And the shooters they do have (Dotson and Wayne Ellington are the ones I’m thinking of here), they’re marginalizing into dust because they’re not shooting 50 percent from deep on nothing but tightly contested shots off screens.
At least, I assume that’s why they’re not playing. Neither of them are shooting very well from beyond the arc right now, I get that, but you need to have shooters shoot in order for them to be good. You have to get them touches; results will follow. Dotson was a lot better last year because he got to play a lot more. Simple as that. Ellington is a different case (he might be legitimately broken forever), but Dotson, they need to do something with him. Maybe that involves trading him. To the Bucks. For Thon Maker.
