Add Jerami Grant to the list of players whose development has been stunted by Paul Millsap the Team Ruiner. Surprise, as soon as Millsap goes out with an injury, Grant starts putting up the kind of numbers that were commonplace for him last season in Oklahoma City.
Grant and Michael Porter Jr. should team up with Trey Lyles to start a support group for players whose careers have been derailed by Paul Millsap and his gigantic contract which basically dictates that he has to receive big minutes no matter the cost. At this support group they can sit in a circle and talk about all the times they got a DNP-CD because Millsap was taking up all the power forward minutes to score fourteen points and grab seven rebounds. They can also have a table with snacks on it so that they having something to snack on while they talk trash about Millsap. I, for one, would love to have an opportunity to eat chips and dip while discussing the myriad ways in which Millsap has ruined my life.
It’s quite possible that Millsap is the better player than Grant and that’s why he gets the starting role. It’s likely, even. But if a trade opportunity comes up where the Nuggets can flip Millsap for some assets that can contribute starting next season, they’d have to take a long, hard look at it. Especially since I’ve surreptitiously installed some high-tech hardware on the phone lines at the Nuggets’ front office so I can sit in a van parked outside and intercept all their calls. Not only can I intercept incoming calls, but I can spoof outgoing calls, so I’m basically the GM now.
