J.J. Barea 15 Points/7 Assists Full Highlights (1/28/2020)

J.J. Barea and Dwight Powell have shown an uncommon amount of chemistry over the years. Their ability to connect with each other on alley-oops was almost telepathic. However, a Bad Thing has happened to Powell and his legs currently don’t work well enough for him to catch lobs from Barea, so Barea is going to have to find new players to throw lobs to.

Luckily, the Mavericks acquired Willie Cauley-Stein from the Kings in response to Powell’s injury. WCS is a proven lob-catcher. He’s not proven to do much else, but he’s proven to catch lobs, so he should fit in nicely with Barea on the Mavs’ second unit. If the two of them haven’t already, they should lock themselves in a gym for five days straight (no food, water, or sleep) and just practice running pick-and-roll lob plays nonstop. By the end of this trying and life-threatening experience, both of them will be ready to dominate other team’s bench units with unstoppable pick-and-rolls. Also, both of them will weigh ten pounds less and they will be hallucinating too.

If forging a new telepathic lob connection through sheer force of will doesn’t work out, my recommendation is for Barea to stop passing entirely and instead shoot midrange jimbos every time he takes the ball up the court.
