Kevin Porter 21 Points Full Highlights (1/28/2020)

Maybe I’m just not as observant as I like to think I am, but I didn’t realize that Kevin Porter Jr. had done that…thing to his hair. Last time I looked at him, he still had that generic hair puff that so many players his age have. I suppose I’m forced to give him points for creativity; it’s definitely hard to mistake him for anybody else on the court. Previously, his hairstyle looked a lot like Collin Sexton’s, and since the broadcast angle makes players look closer in height than they really are, it was too easy to get them mixed up.

Porter’s new ‘do is giving me Jordan Hill vibes as well, and those aren’t the worst vibes to be giving off. Sure, Jordan Hill is out of the league now, and the artistry of his “hair-copter” was lost on this unhip white dude, but he had a distinctive style, plus it seemed like he was pretty good at basketball for a few seasons there. There are many worse players to be compared to than Jordan Hill. There are many better players for sure, but there are also many worse players.

Porter and his follicular firework/newly sprouted plant of hair had a very good game against the Pelicans. He had five three-pointers on eight attempts, which is really good for somebody who was shooting sub-30% before this game. Maybe the new hair is giving him secret powers. If I put my hair into a firework on top of my head, will I become a better shooter too?
