All Americans, even the least patriotic or the least sports-aware, are aware that the Super Bowl is going on right now. For my non-American friends, the Super Bowl is the culmination of the American football season, and if you don’t know what American football is, you’re not missing much. It’s basically rugby but with more rules and more padding.
Anyway, the Super Bowl is going on right now, and I’m trying to fulfill my American duty by watching it, but it’s really hard to focus on a sporting contest while also editing highlight videos of a different sport. Football games mostly consist of dead time between plays where players are just standing around catching their breath/recovering from microconcussions, so I watch like one play and then look away to work on my highlight video (because I’m not going to waste my time waiting for them to run another play when I’ve got stuff I could be doing), and then when I remember to keep watching the game, the other team has the ball and the score has changed. It’s just not given to me to multi-task like that.
The best thing about the Super Bowl, in my opinion, is the food culture that is inextricably intertwined with it. You wanna guess how many chicken wings I’ve eaten today? It’s a lot. Blue cheese dipping sauce is non-negotiable.
If you’re watching this video right after it’s been uploaded, you apparently care even less about football than I do. Either that or you’re such a huge Ben McLemore fan that you’ll interrupt your viewing of the biggest game of the season to watch him score 22 points, which is a good amount of points but not a mind-blowing amount of points.
Wait…wait…there he goes! ALL THE WAY TO THE ENDZONE! TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN! FOOOOOOOOBAAAAAAAAAAA
