Shabazz Napier 17 Points/7 Assists Full Highlights (2/3/2020)

I thought THE WHOLE POINT of trading away Jeff Teague was so that Jarrett Culver could get a ton of burn at point guard in this lost season for the Timberwolves. The other part of the plan was to allow Andrew Wiggins to initiate more of the offense himself. The plan was not to have Shabazz Napier play thirty minutes per game.

What’s even the point of trying to establish Napier as a starting point guard? He’s 28 years old and he’s not even under contract for next season, so the Timberwolves have nothing to gain by giving him big minutes in games that they’re going to lose anyway. This is like when the Bucks won thirteen games that one season and spent the last thirty games trying to establish Jeff Adrien as some kind of power forward god with his sidekick Ramon Sessions.

Just kidding, I love you Jeff Adrien and Ramon Sessions.

If I’m Jarrett Culver, I’m pissed. If I’m a Timberwolves fan, I’m pissed. If I’m Andrew Wiggins, I’m apathetic about anything basketball-related. Having steady point guard play from a guy like Napier who could maybe be considered a “veteran” is totally overrated when the season has gone down the tubes and the only thing that matters is getting ready for next year. Maybe he’ll get traded in a package for D’Angelo Russell. But then we’re right back to where we started, ruining Culver’s career.
