Now that Bam Adebayo is OFFICIALLY an All-Star, and therefore only has a week or so of eligibility left on my scrubs-only highlight channel, there’s not much time left to push my latest social media-driven agenda/viral hashtag creation:

I introduced this amazing new hashtag a few months ago in another video description and, honestly, I’m disappointed in the reception so far. As near as I can tell, I’m the only person who’s used this hashtag even though there are a.) millions of Heat fans who love Adebayo and b.) millions of Serbs who love basketball and would love to adopt Adebayo as an honorary Serb. That’s like the perfect storm for having a viral hashtag sensation, but it’s not working out that way for some reason.
Serbs already have Nikola Jokic. Why wouldn’t they want to have a second Nikola Jokic who just happens to have darker skin? Their national team would be even more stacked than before if they could add Adebayo. If the Serbian government is ever going to make Adebayo a fully naturalized Serbian citizen, this hashtag needs to take off.
I admit, the creation of this hashtag may have been motivated by selfish motivations. My thought was, I could drive more views to my Bam Adebayo highlight videos if Serbs thought he was one of them. But now I’m not going to be making Adebayo highlight videos anymore so my intentions are pure. I don’t stand to gain anything from the success of this campaign. It is Serbs themselves who will reap the benefits.
