In the intervening hours between when Jordan McLaughlin had this performance and when I uploaded the video depicting the performance, a lot of weird stuff happened with the Timberwolves. The weirdest being the long-awaited departure of Andrew Wiggins. Witness in this video a few of his very last buckets (but not his absolute last, sadly) as a Timberwolf, delivered cleanly on a platter by McLaughlin.
McLaughlin had a very solid game in this one, probably because of the people defending him. Every point guard in the league should be circling Hawks games on the calendar and writing a note that says “feast time”, because Trae Young really cannot defend anyone. He doesn’t want to defend them, but even if he wanted to, he couldn’t. McLaughlin isn’t the world’s biggest point guard, not by any means, but his speed was just way too much for Young. Jeff Teague was also getting cooked by him, and I don’t have a good reason for that. They practiced together for how many months? He should know all about McLaughlin, but he was getting blown by like he hadn’t read the scouting report.
Despite his solidity, the Timberwolves lost. Again. That’s 13 in a row now, I think. Will they ever win again? Is that why they traded basically everyone on their roster? So they could maybe win a game before the season ends?
