To put into perspective how much Brook Lopez’s three-point shooting has fallen off a cliff (I still love him though), here’s a stat for your edification:
Amount of times that Brook Lopez hit five or more three-pointers in a single game last season: 9.
Amount of times that Brook Lopez hit five or more three-pointers in a single game this season: 1 (this game).
Lopez, to be fair, has lowered his volume this season, probably in response to his decreased accuracy from the splashzone (which is more like the brickzone for him now). His chances of hitting five threes in a game are lower if he’s not even attempting five three-pointers in most contests. Still, you can see from the stat that Lopez turned from perhaps the most feared stretch-five in the league to a guy who is significantly worse shooting the three than a lot of centers who don’t even have the “stretch-five” designation.
Lopez was 5/5 on threes this game, not enough to get his percentage up to 30%, but enough to get it to 29% anyway. I don’t want to put unfairly place blame on his shoulders that should not be his to bear, but the Bucks totally would be going 82-0 this season if he was as good at threes this season as he was last season. Just saying.
