I was kind of hoping that these last two games by Jordan “Poole Party” Poole where he scored a combined 35 points would bump him over the magical 30 percent field goal percentage threshold, but I forgot to consider that he made a grand total of 8 shots in his prior 7 games (while playing decent minutes). Two steps forward, one step back. Except in this case, it was four steps forward (a nice little run during the middle of January), seven steps back, and now two steps forward again.
So, yeah, his shooting percentages still suck harder than just about anyone has ever sucked, but this is a HIGHLIGHTS channel. I show HIGHLIGHTS. If I wanted, at the end of the season, I could make a vid compiling every single shot he made on the season. And there would be no doubt that it would be fun to watch and make him look like a good player. Maybe I will do such a thing. I apparently don’t value my time at all, so why not make a bucketilation for one of the least efficient bucket-getters in the league?
Or, you could just watch that video, similarly edited to excise his misses (which, for once, were significantly outnumbered by his makes), and come away with the idea that he is a good scorer. That would require you to have ignored the entirety of this description and to have ignored the entirety of his career to this point, but I bet there’s some casual out there who’s never even heard of the Golden State Warriors or Stephen Curry who will somehow stumble on this video after searching “pool party” and think that Poole is the next MJ.
