The legend of Fourth Quarter Ja Morant continues to grow, except it’s not really a legend if you can verify it with your own eyes, is it? So it’s actually the reality of Forth Quarter Ja Morant. A legend would be like if Ja Morant was rumored to bathe in the blood of real grizzly bears before every game. That would be “The Legend of Ja Morant’s Bear-Blood Baths”. I could totally get behind a legend like that. A cool story like that makes the tall tales surrounding all-time greats like MJ and Kobe (RIP) seem quaint in comparison.
The stats continue to bear out that Morant is at his best in fourth quarters. He’s made more shots in the fourth quarter than any other quarter by a factor of two, and he’s shooting 55% on those shots, which is around 10% higher than his percentage in any other quarter. He had ten points in the fourth quarter of this one, which isn’t an overwhelming amount but still drives home the point of him being a total clutchmaster, and he also hit a big-balls three-pointer that pretty much sent the Wizards packing. Oh yeah, he also statpadded for the final rebound to get the triple-double. Clutch fourth-quarter rebounds is just another facet of his fourth-quarter dominance.
How much does a gallon of bear’s blood cost these days, anyway? Just wondering. No reason, really. Just curious.
