Brandon Clarke is having an extremely good rookie season, averaging basically 20/10 on 60% shooting if you use his per-36 stats. Many years, those stats would put him right in the thick of the ROTY of the year race, but this year, there’s a number of rookies who are considerably ahead of him in that race, including one player on his own team, likely winner Ja Morant. But if you throw him in that one season were Brogdon and Saric were duking it out for the award? Clarke’s running away with that one.
The real problem with having all these talented rookies on the NBA is that it’s going to make future draft classes look like 100% dog poo. This upcoming class is supposed to suck (not that I know enough about college basketball to make my own judgements), so we’re going to look back on this a year from now and think “I wish even one of these rookies is as good as rookie Brandon Clarke was. None of them even has 20/10 potential. Clarke’s averaging 20/10 right now for a fifty-win ‘Zlies team.” Those are the literal words we’ll be saying. I’ll be there saying them with you, because my channel thrives on rookies who perform well.
The only disappointment in this video is that there’s none of Clarke’s patented floaters from inside the paint. I usually talk trash towards people who shoot too many floaters, but I don’t feel that way towards Clarke because he’s a rookie and he’s so good at them. Brandon Clarke floaterilation incoming?
