Christian Wood being unleashed on the Pistons makes them 1000% more watchable, in my opinion. My opinion doesn’t matter that much because I don’t have the time to just sit there and watch Detroit Pistons games, but it kinda does matter because I’m the leading expert on NBA watchability and you aren’t. Christian Wood has tons of watchability. The eyeballs of viewers are inexplicably drawn to him. Meanwhile, Andre Drummond has negative watchability.
This post-trade-deadline Pistons team basically has Christan Wood playing the Blake Griffin roll. Except Wood isn’t a ball distributor at all, so he has to score more compensate. This season’s Blake Griffin was sad to watch and Wood has probably surpassed him at this point from a raw “scoring ability” perspectve. He might even have Griffin beat in terms of current relevance, since Griffin is recovering from surgery out of the public eye while Wood takes the reins of a Pistons team that traded their “star”, Drummond and was therefore left with a power vacuum.
Imagine if Thon Maker had assertively tried to take the lead in the offense once Drummond and Griffin were out. With Wood taking that role, the Pistons are 1000% more watchable, but with Thon Maker leading the way…I can’t even conceptualize it. But I would watch the heck out of it.
