It was good for Devonte’ Graham to hit some threes in this game; if he had gone in to the three-point shootout having gone 1-for-9 and 0-for-whatever in his last two games, there’d be no way he could win. He’s still probably not going to win anyway, but now he has the confidence granted by some in-game triples to give him a chance.
Realistically, it’s been a long time since Graham was regularly hitting tons of threes on a huge volume. He started off the season so hot that it seemed like he was the third Curry brother but actually playing in Charlotte, but since, like, the start of the new year, he’s just been okay. His volume is still high, so he’s still making a lot of threes, and his inclusion in the three-point contest is justified.
But he’s been passed in total threes made by Duncan Robinson. That’s not okay. And even with James Harden cratering even harder than Graham the last few weeks, he’s still 40-ish threes ahead.
If it isn’t apparent by the above paragraphs, I’m starting to run out of steam when it comes to Graham. His percentages may be down, but he still scores a good amount of points and is still always getting tons of assists, and it’s just wearing me down. He’d be too good for this channel already if he wasn’t so bad last year and his play so unexpected this year. The All-Star break is just what I need to recharge my batteries and be ready for the final stretch of the Hornets season where he’ll probably average 30 and 10.
