I take back all the mean things I said about Kent Bazemore and how he’s overpaid and his production is really bad and all that. Temporarily, at least. After this performance, Bazemore doesn’t deserve to be slandered in such a way, but if he follows this up with a string of bad shooting nights with single-digit scoring (which is a very real, and perhaps even likely, possibility), I’ll un-take it back.
It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and overreact to some nice defensive plays coupled with a well-rounded scoring attack, but what’s basketball about if not getting caught up in the moment? This is why we watch, so I’m going to go ahead and say it, consequences be damned: Bazemore won the game for the Kings tonight. Just straight up won it by hitting a bunch of shots and playing a bunch of defense against KaWhine LeoNerd and the Lose Angeles Clippers. All of a sudden his monster contract is 100 percent justified.
At some point, maybe after he got traded from the Hawks, he decided that he was some sort of awesome scorer, because it seems like every time I’ve seen him on the court he’s been taking all sorts of crazy shots that he has no business taking. Who do you think you are, Dillon Brooks? This may not be the thing to say after he put up a season-high, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I DO actually sometimes watch NBA games for no reason other than to watch them. You guys should try it out.
